Three of the recesses of the Chart Room contained parchment borders specially-commissioned and installed in 1994 at a cost of £1,400, formed by a collage of hand-coloured papers onto which quotes (by T S Elliot, Sir Francis Drake and John Masefield) on the theme of navigation were written in layers in a variety of calligraphic styles.
