March 2019 : QE2 with snow or ice
« on: Mar 02, 2019, 09:53 AM »
This month's theme is "QE2 with snow or ice", chosen by David Pressler, the winner of the November 2018 competition. Looking forward to your photos, as seen from on board or from shoreside. The choice is yours, but QE2 and some snow or ice must both feature in the picture.

Enjoy the search -- I guess this leaves some scope for your imagination :) .

The prize this month is a QE2 photo frame in walnut, bought on board QE2 in 2008 and still in its original wrapping, donated by me, Isabelle Prondzynski.

Alternatively, June Ingram is offering a jigsaw of the prizewinning picture. The choice is yours -- which will it be?

How to enter

The album is open -- so now is the time to look for your three most interesting pictures on this theme. Wishing you happy memories as you search your photo collection to find up to three pictures to upload to the competition album.

This link will take you straight there : QE2 with snow or ice.

If you have not uploaded photos to the Forum Gallery before, have a look at these instructions, and if you have any problems, just contact us on admin@theqe2story.com. You could even email the photos to this address, and we can upload them for you.

The deadline for submitting photos is 31 March 2019. Voting will run from 1 April 2019 until 30 April 2019.

We look forward to seeing your photos in this month's competition.

This is the seventh month of photos for the 2020 calendar. Maybe your photo will figure there!

Enjoy yourselves!  :)

I would have entered the attachment...but it really wouldnt count, Granted it was probably one of the biggest bergs.. but l would be skating on thin ice...

One of the few topics I can't enter given most of our voyages were in the summer and the one in October 2004 was to Iberia  :P . Can't wait to see everyone else's photos though!

Edit: just realised the wonderful ice carvings are included too! Will look through our photos now and upload!

First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2 in her new life, in Dubai, in January 2020 and August 2022.

8 photos entered so far. There must be plenty more ready to see the light of day... or rather the light of this Forum! Some variety is on offer already.

11 entries now.

Have a look at how the "ice" in the title has been interpreted! There must be some photos in your collections, which would fit in beautifully :) .

Thank you, Caledonia, for those beautiful images! I wish I had been there again... and you got perfect weather too!

I shall upload them to the competition album for you.

As you say the weather god's were very kind, most of the cruise was undertaken in lovely weather, l was fortunate to obtain some lovely photos of the beautiful lady at our various ports of call, a very memorable cruise

When our mother was there for the first time, she did not take in Svalbard at all, because the whole area was shrouded in fog and low clouds. All she saw was the bog cotton growing in the marshy land. When we went there together a few years later, she was astounded by the mountains, the snow and the extraordinary beauty of the place. Thank you for having taken such marvellous pictures -- great memories!

It is still not too late to submit your photos (up to 3) of QE2 with snow and ice.  I know everyone's thoughts are on the arrival of Spring here, but snow and ice photos can be quite original in interpretation !   :)
