V & A museum at Dundee

We could have a get together on the opening day of the new V&A at Dundee since their first exhibition will be ocean liners. Opening in September 2018

Sounds like a good idea Waverley. The last time I was in Dundee I was surprised that there seemed quite a lot to see and do in the city.

How many people would be interested in a Forum members get together in Dundee for the Exhibition? Please post below to give an indication.

I will be in Dundee at the end of March for a wedding, so I will investigate and report back to the forum members.
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

Doing something at the new V&A sounds a great idea, I'm in!

Are we sure doing it on the opening day is a good idea though, won't it be crazy busy?!

I'd be up for this regardless of whether its opening day or not.

Cheers

Does anyone have any more thoughts about doing a wee get together for this?

The exhibition is highly recommended and is on until February 24th 2019

I'm thinking if we could just pick a date - we would then be able to tell people a date, and see if they'd be interested.

Maybe the best way to start is for those members who would like to visit, letting us know here.

And if you already know what dates or periods would definitely be impossible, that would also be helpful.

After that, a few potential dates could be identified.

To start off, as for myself, I would not be able to be around during that period at all.

My suggestion is for a Friday in January or early Feb, with a stayover optional for those interested.

There is the risk of snow or weather disruption, but there's nothing we can do about that!

Unfortunately the cost of travelling up to Scotland prevents this for me. Maybe my financial investment will pay off in the long term future though and would allow for plenty of travelling, who knows...
First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2 in her new life, in Dubai, in January 2020 and August 2022.
