February 2016 : QE2 with flotilla (closed)

This month's theme is "QE2 with flotilla", chosen by Bob C after the November competition.

The prize this month is the official DVD of QE2's Voyage to Dubai (2008), donated by Isabelle Prondzynski.

Bringing back bitter-sweet memories no doubt...



Alternatively, June Ingram has offered as a prize the jigsaw version of the winning photo. It will be interesting to see which is preferred!

The album is open -  so now is the time to look for your most interesting pictures on this theme. Wishing you happy memories as you search your photo collection to find up to three pictures to upload to the competition album.

The deadline for submitting photos is 29 February 2016. Voting will run from 1 March 2016 until 31 March 2016.

QE2 with Flotilla is an excellent choice of theme for the photo competition.  But did we take pictures to remember the flotilla's that welcomed or gave a send off to QE2? I hope so as I a  looking forward to seeing some excellent photos for this theme.

That is entirely right! I also found my choice of photos to be quite limited, as I needed those with QE2 on too -- and when I saw the flotillas from on board, I never included QE2 in the photos!

I would love to lay claim that l took this photo, but l didnt,hence why it cant be entered but it seems the ideal chance to share it here. l was onboard, but it was taken be a freelance photographer who was taking some photos and was kind enough to send me one of these he took..

For what its worth the same photographer a great many years ago took a couple of photo shots for a feature in the Daily Record of my travels and here he was again taking a photo for the Daily Mail on QE2s last call into Greenock.

Its a very small world in QE2 world
