Shipping costs driving inflation

While we are all wondering why the cost of living is rising so fast, we are aware of quite a few variables, which are somewhat different from country to country, one part of the world to another.

But most of us are presumably, to some degree or other, affected by the cost of shipping :

I remember, years ago, talking with a Maersk manager, who told me that the state of the global economy could be easily deduced from the state of global shipping at any one time. We got an insight into the other side of this coin when the Ever Given got stuck in the Suez Canal, and the consequences this had for the global economy.

We need to watch the space -- the space of global shipping...
