Carnival Splendor Accident Report Released
« on: Jul 16, 2013, 05:56 PM »

The  Coast Guard hasa released it's findings and recommendations for the engine room fire that left the Splendor completely disabled back in 2010.  Pretty disturbing read, outlining basic deficiencies in Fincantieri shipbuilding, Wartsila engine design, and Carnival operating procedures and maintence procedures.

I stood in the ECR room this past April and the chief engineer was mum when asked what specifically caused the fire.  I asked where DG-5 was located and he pointed basically to the floor below us.  As with every disaster, it is usually a combination of alot of little things.  This is disturbing since this is Fincantieri and is responsible for almost every ship Carnival has in it's fleet.

I get "unauthorized access detected" when I try to access the report.  Any suggestions?
