Sadly there's no mention of William Symington and the
Charlotte Dundas
. The father of steam navigation and his baby. He built her in 1802 and proved it could be done, but died a broken man in 1831.

William Symington does get profiled in BBC Scotland's
The Scots who made the modern world
episode 2. He is sandwiched between James Watt and the Lighthouse Stevensons. Available on the BBC I player for the next week.
