Bit by bit, we are at the moment going through the "Books on the QE2" topic and giving each book its own thread. The order is which this is being done, is totally haphazard, so please don't see any sort of value judgement in the order of appearance!

Once the books have their own thread, it would be great if those Forum members who have read them, could write a review of the book for other Forum members, and indeed for guests dropping in to read the Forum.

One book I am amazed is not yet included, is "Murder on the QE2", the first ever book I read about the QE2 (but sadly, it was not mine and I shall now need to order my own copy)! It was for sale in the Ocean Bookshop and, we thought at the time, was excellent in describing passenger life on board the ship. We read it after our very first cruise on QE2 and firmly resolved that, next time, we would get ourselves covered in blankets in the Funnel Bar (or at least that area that later became the Funnel Bar) and sip hot bouillon. Which has remained a dream not come true, as somehow we always had other things to do!

The reviews on the Amazon page give quite a good summary of the content of the book. Here is part of one :

Quote from: R L Judd, Oxford (UK)
The plot revolves around Jessica's crossing, where she's been asked to guest lecture on the art of mystery writing and to script a play to be performed on each of the 4 nights of the cruise.

While on board however, one of the other lecturers - a famed Hollywood actress - is found dead in a lifeboat and then another mysteriously disappears in the dead of night.... is someone sinister 'offing the ships celebrity speakers? Is Jessica herself in mortal danger?

Its up to good ol' Mrs Fletcher to delve in to the investigation and unmask the killer, by way of a cleverly devised, one-act play, in which actors play the roles of real-life passengers.

Fantastic michael!

I'm hoping we can have a topic dedicated to each and every one!

This is a great idea, Rob.
and Michael - Hoping it'll not be too long before you publish something that will be very good indeed!
'QE2 and the Age of Change' perhaps? :)

That is a good price for the book.  You would pay over £20 for the book in Amazon.
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank
