« on: May 02, 2012, 01:46 AM »
Hello, I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself, to all who are registered with the site. My name is Ivan Smith and I was formally a hotel officer aboard the QE2. If there are any former crew members, who would like to contact me, please drop me a line, with best regards ... Ivan

Looking to make contact with former crew members of QE2 - I served from 1983 - 1989. My name is Ivan Smith, and was hotel officer aboard the greatest ship ever built, she was the last of the great transatlantic liners.

Hello Ivan, and welcome aboard the Forum!

Looking forward to reading some of your tales of life and work on QE2, at a time when many of us (including me) did not yet know her. I hope you find some former colleagues here and enjoy the memories of the ship.

Welcome Ivan

Hope you find some ex crew that worked onboard QE2 when you were onboard.

Hope you enjoy the Forum  :)
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

Hi Ivan, and i would like to welcome you to the Q E 2 forum . Its a very friendly and interesting site with many points  and topics, for every one to share their memories and experiences.

I have just returned from a cruise yesterday, which was on the Queen Elizabeth.
Because i had my Q E 2 ship badge on, i had several crew members who said that they had worked on the Q E 2 for many years , and how much that they
were missing her. What was nice for myself to hear from them, was that they all said " The Q E 2 was the best". They had just seen her in Dubai, on their return from the Queen Elizabeths world cruise. For them it was a happy but also a sad time . They said  to see the Q E 2  just there all by herself, made them feel excited in one way , but very sad to have to leave her there "again" as that they were on that last voyage in November 2008 to Dubai.

It was nice for us to meet up with crew members who remembered us from our previous Q E 2 cruises, and  talk about old times. I mentioned to them that there is a Q E 2 forum site, where many old crew members have  made contact with their fellow workers through the forum.
Ivan,  i do hope that you are successful in the same way, and that you enjoy being on board with us as a forum member.

In friendship
Barrie Evans

Hi Ivan,

Welcome to the Forum
It's great that you are here - Hope that you enjoy it, and looking forward to hearing something about your 'favourite moments - or whatever-you'd -like-to-talk-about'  from your time on board QE2!!

I believe Andrew Nelder was on Queen Victoria last year, someone on board said that he was planning to retire before too long.
Also - have you visited the Online Wardie page on Facebook? It's a page specially for Officers and Crew who worked on board QE2.
(It's 'strictly' not for passengers, however several have managed to climb on board - it was shocking to find my name there - not too sure who did that!! Having tried all my life to respect the limits of Crew Country, feeling a bit shamefaced here!!)
There's another couple of sites that might be of interest
http://www.seadogs-reunited.com
This has an index of names as well as a  forum whereby people can get recent news
and

All the best

Hi Ivan
You should try facebook, a number of the names you mention are on there, at least one has passed away and one is presently onboard QM2, l was a guest on his hosted table away back in 1988.
I do hope this helps?
