I think crew mess food was OK but the problem is one of sameness and boredom.  Yes pax food did go there on the rare occasions too much had been made, such as bad weather days. Nothing wasted.

Wasn't there a short cut though the hospital (illegal) from 6 deck crew side when the WTDs were closed?

From Six Deck you could walk in the Crew Waiting then onwards to C Stairway, but dont get caught.The normal route when the doors were closed was to use Crew Staircase 5.
