the HOT floor cabins

Have you ever experienced the hot floor cabins?   We had one of these I think on 4 deck for a  last minute short cruise ( thank god) ...my handbag was on the floor and when I picked it up to get something out of it it was red hot....and inside my lipstick had melted!!!

Mind you ..drying your laundry was extra quick all you had to do was put it under your bed...!! LOL   .it got pretty unbearable and we did have to move cabin....apparently  its known as RED SQUARE'   must be directly above engines or something... I did hear some cabins had to have air conditioning boxes in them to help keep them cool as they got so very hot.....obviously the old girl just couldn't keep up with it....but I'm sure a new system could have been installed....couldn't it??.  something Dubai must have to seriously look into....she must be BOILING. down there...

From our experience, Five Deck Cabin Stateroom 5140, which is close to the exhaust uptakes, definitely had some hot spots on the floor, nothing the AC could not cope with.  It was a nice touch for Cunard to provide a heated floor for those down in "steerage."  :P  I actually loved that cabin, despite it being a room without a view.  You could faintly here the hum of the MAN diesels underfoot.

Deluixecruises.com had  a great deck plan showing what cabins were described as "value red room (noisy)" . these were marked in red and went as high as one deck !!

From the moment you first glimpsed the Queen,

I well remember when Cunard issued noisy cabins ...were they not more at the fore and after ends of the ship?   It was a short lived thing though.... The hot ones were fairly  quiet as I can recall from other passengers too... they were .just too darn hot!

Some of these MUST have changed after ther re-engining... some rooms must have improved, some must have got worse.
