Wow, finding this site today has been great. But, I remember some wonderful nights in the Pig and Whistle partying til the wee hours. You could not beat the prices on booze in the crew bars! Ahh, memories...

The night the wave hit, I was actually up in the Yacht Club socializing with the passengers. I remember it was around 2 am when it hit. It was crazy! Do you remember during the day how the Captain kept getting on the tannoy making announcements throughout the day. You could tell things were more serious than usual. The photogs got some great shots of the waves that day. I will be scanning in photos from the ship in the coming weeks. I am actually packing today and getting ready to move this week, so will not have access to my scanner for a bit. Louis, this is too cool! I am glad to be talking to someone from that time in my life! I owe you a drink or two, friend!

In 1994 when a skeleton crew made the crossing from New York to Hamburg for the refit the crew bar was taken over by the contractors.A few of us found the refugee in the Princess Grill and turned that into our private crew bar and since the Restaurant Bar (which was still under operational service for officers and co.) is just outside the Restaurant we got those beers nicely chilled out. There were 2 Bartenders onboard Myself and another guy from Madeira since we had the "license" to get rid of all open spirit bottles we were able to make a few bucks........ :) I think when we arrived in Hamburg there was no more open bottles of Bombay Saphire Gin...... :)

Not for the faint-hearted, this...

It must have been quite strange for the crew, living these two very different lifestyles...

Interesting to read his thoughts of some of the passengers :o The same guy was selling on ebay some cds packed full of photos,( over 5000 to be exact,) from his time onboard QE2, and to quote Isabelle Prondzynski "not for the faint hearted" None the less fun!! It does show a very different side from what we see, hopefully he may spill some more beans on crew life.....
