We are setting off on a little mini cruise in July 2008. The big attraction for some of the passengers was meeting the brand new Queen Victoria in Zeebrugge...

To start our voyage, how about a vegetarian meal?
-
A bit of a treat to have the vegetarian menu.
I will have:
Melon
Cream of mushroom soup
Vegetarian lasagne
Vanilla ice cream with a wafer
Cappuccino coffee
-
I would never really consider looking at such options, But as its there my choice would be
Melon
Mushroom Soup
Puff pastry Shell
-
Well, today you can have the full vegetarian menu or the menu of the day with its non-veg options.
As this is such a short cruise, let us take lunch (in the port of Rotterdam) today and dinner tomorrow. Please enjoy a snack in between!
-
Yesterday, enjoying the vegetarian menu, I had :
-- fresh mushroom ragout served in a cushion vol au vent
-- Indian vegetable curry with coconut milk and pilaf rice
-- avocado and grapefruit salad with lemon mint marinade
I received this vegetarian menu directly after my first meal on board, when the wonderful waiter noticed that I was ordering the vegetarian dishes. Remarkable when he knew that I would only be on board for less than three full days!
-
And for lunch today, I would like :
-- cream of mushroom soup with croutons
-- Mexican omelette with cheese, sour cream and salsa
-- apple pie with walnut ice cream
With the fresh warm bread rolls, and followed by coffee and a piece of chocolate please :) .
-
Today my lunch choice :
Cream of mushroom soup
Greek salad with pita bread
Apple pie with walnut ice cream
Capuccino coffee and chocolate(s)
-
Chilled Pineapple soup
Cunard Club Sandwich
and Fresh Fruit Meringue.
The Club / BLT sandwich was always a favourite of mine to order via room service late at night or very early morning with a portion of fries and a large glass or two of ice-cold milk . Are such things still possible onboard these days ?
-
We can have some dinner tonight!
-
For me please :
-- asparagus cream soup with roasted sun-dried tomatoes
-- potato and spinach gnocchi parmigiano on a fresh spicy red pepper sauce
-- baked caramelised pineapple with Malibu sabayon
... and the wonderful sweet treats with a good cup of coffee!
Who will join me for a drink and a chat on deck as we approach the end of another cruise together?
-
Tonight I would like:
Melon balls
Spinach and corn fritters on bok choy
Vanilla ice cream with one wafer and butterscotch sauce
Coffee and chocolates
-
Tonight l would enjoy
Melon Balls
Asparagus Soup
Chicken
and probably Baked Pineapple.
Under the watchful eyes of Dinesh, l remember him a few years prior serving our table as a waiter, a delightful guy with a lovely personality .
-
Luncheon in the port of Zeebrugge (after a sortie to gawp at the brand new Queen Victoria).
-
My choice for lunch today :
-- deep fried Camembert with cranberry sauce (from the vegetarian menu) and a home made bread roll
-- spinach lasagna with courgette and pecorino cheese
-- vanilla icecream with a cassis sauce and a wafer
Coffee and a wander round the ship to take some more photographs of hidden details here and there.
-
Good choice Isabelle, I will join you by choosing the same.
-
And the final dinner...
-
For me, tonight :
-- roasted root vegetable soup with ginger croƻtons
-- Indian vegetable curry with nan bread
-- baked lemon tart with citrus compote and raspberry coulis
Will we be disembarking after breakfast, or will we be enjoying another wonderful meal on board together?
Let us have a great evening today and not worry about tomorrow! No baggage to pack and leave in the alleyway :) .
-
The Final Dinner
Chicken Broth
Tikka
and Lemon tart
As for disembarking, l tended to do the party cruises back to back with a longer cruise
and have an intransit lunch in The Britannia Grill. I don't think l have an intransit menu.
It was there i experienced their chilled soup which was chilled soup in a bowl set into a large metal clam shell filled with ice and garnish round the edge .
