The photos in the QE2 in her Element photo competition were just fantastic!

We had 47 entries and I was amazed at the selection of photos for this theme.  We had forty-four members voting and their choice of winning photo is:

"Beauty Waiting for Me"  by Edward Hickson.

This was such a close contest that we had four runners up:

Down - Hamburger

Liverpool calling (home again) - Shipnshore

Full Speed Ahead! - Bob C

In Flaam - Mike White

Congratulations to the winner and runners up and thank-you to everyone who gave us the opportunity to see once again QE2 in her element through your photos.

Congratulations to all concerned! The photo competition keeps getting better and better.

I love seeing all these pictures, and we are assembling a wonderful collection of QE2 images, some of them going well back in time. I am so grateful to those (such as Bob C) who take the trouble to scan the older pictures and enter them, so that we all can see them here. From my own experience I know how time consuming that is... and how rewarding!

The winner of the August competition Hamburger with his photo Look back and feel the power and the speed, had very kindly offered the prize to the runner up Harev.

Thank-you to Hamburger and a big thank-you to Cunard for supplying the prize.

It is a lovely book, which I hope Harev will enjoy.   ;D

Congratulations to you, LegendOfTheSeas!

I like the way the photo shows QE2 in relief... it's a beautifully composed picture. Did you take it from another ship?

And stowaway 2k -- I can almost hear the hum of her engines and smell her fuel when looking at your picture.

What a splendid collection we had again for this theme, with a huge variety of entries. Many thanks to all who entered and to all who voted -- what makes this competition so enjoyable, is that it is the work of all of us :) .

Thanks Isabelle. Yes, I was on the Red Funnel ferry Red Eagle, which was doing a special evening cruise for the event.

The winner of the January Photo of the Month competition was Stowaway 2K with his photo "QE2 Icy Hull".

Forum members submitted 35 excellent photos, which made choosing a winner a difficult decision.

The runner up was Harev's photo "Sailing away in a snowstorm in New York"

Thank-you to everyone who participated.

I will be contacting Stowaway 2K within the next couple of days with details of his prize and to ask him to choose a new theme for the April competition.

As we had realised that there were lots of themes suggested by members that had not been used we have decided to make a slight change to the method for selecting the new themes.  The winner will be asked to choose from this list of themes, then to give us a new theme to add to the list.

Stowaway 2K was delighted to win the competition and has responded with his choice for the next topic and a topic to add to the list.

Wow, thank you so much.  It's amazing to win a contest when there are so many excellent choices for voters.

As for choosing an upcoming theme from the list, I like "The Bit Beneath the Bridge".  That sounds fun, and I think all of our members would have photos to enter with that theme.  It should be interesting.

A new theme... hmmm....
It's getting difficult to come up with something fresh that would be inclusive for as many members as possible.   How about "Quayside or Dockside, QE2 Tied Up"
