This room was added to replace the Q4 Room and removed in 1994

To the left of the photo you can make out the main entrance through the G Stairway. The dance floor had lights on the floor too.A sliding door could be pulled out across the dance floor to block of the Magrodome this was used often in bad weather when leaking from the roof.

The room in 1984

I vaguely remember the flashing dance floor from 87.  My dad came home with a terrible black lace record once, which he'd bought after enjoying a dance to it on that floor (he couldn't dance)

Is that the same location as the crystal bar?

It was located at what eventually became the Lido. Q4 Room became the Club Lido in 1982 and then opened up to become the indoor / outdoor Club Lido when the Magrodome was added in 1983. And then the entire area was rebuilt as the Lido in 1994.

I've not been on QE2 when she was in service (an opportunity missed) but thanks to the forum I'm really getting a feel for the layout and each room in all its guises.

I remember when the "sparkly" dance floor was just that! In rough weather the pool slopped over, triggered the electric eyes on the doors and flooded the dance floor took a while before they got the doors turned off.

The sparkly disco dance floor is one of my earliest memories of QE2 - I remember dad telling me about it in the early 1980s, and showing me photos.  It sounded like the most amazing thing I'd ever heard of.

Thanks for sharing the fabulous photos.
