P Mcgrath, QE2 Waiter, T.O.W. Columbia ? -1986
« on: Aug 14, 2011, 12:55 PM »
Worked on QE2 up till 86 refit in Bremen. Wish i had gone back to be honest. Joined QE2 as a commis waiter after NSTC in Gravesend. Worked in the wardroom with then went to the Tables Of The World then finished off in the Columbia. Some familiar names were Andrew Nelder, Dave Chambers, John Davies. I am trying to find John Turner, David Shaw and Peter Luff, does anybody have any idea if they went back after the refit ? or has anybody got any idea where they are.

Welcome to the QE2 Forum.

I am sure there will be Forum members who remember the people you have mentioned in your introductory post.  Hopefully they will know where some of them are.

Hope you enjoy being a member of the Forum and posting memories of your time onboard QE2.
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

Hi Columbia Winger

Welcome on board - it's good that you have found us whilst looking for friends

Have you tried QE2 Crew - The Online Wardie on Facebook?
https://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2550025714
It's possible that someone there may know of their whereabouts.

In the meantime - if you'd like to tell us more about your own QE2 stories
you've come to the right place for 'good listeners'!!
Cheers and Good Luck
Rosie.

Do you mean Peter Luff? If so l remember him being onboard in June 1986 and serving on my table, A great guy, he was serving with Mark Skelton.
I would be happy to privately email a photo just to make sure its the same guy
Cheers

Well it just shows what a small world it is, since my first trip in 1986 and now some 29 years later thanks to here and Facebook made contact with my very first two waiters..
