6 viewsCrewing the QE2 Launches while in Caribbean Cruising 1970. Although I was training in engine room when not on watch below my Chief Engineer would allow me to help crew the passenger launches from ship to shore. Here I am (left) with one of my crew friends who actually was deck crew. On each boat there would be 2 crew and a Coxswain. It would also help train us how to launch the boats from the ship when and IF they would ever be used as lifeboats from the ship. Quite tricky at times too in a rough sea swelLJohn D Hobley FinstRDec 30, 2024

QE2 Ladies Compact11 viewsQE2 ladies compact made by Strattor in England. I purchased for my mother after my first trip in1970/71. She passed a few years ago and I found it in her jewellery box just as I had given it to her. She showed everyone but never used it as she cherished it so much. She was so proud I was chosen to join such a prestigious ship as the QE2 to train in engine room especially as she had been hesitant in letting me join the sea training school at 16 before going on to join the ship for the first time in New YorkJohn D Hobley FinstRNov 16, 2024
