Although I was training in engine room when not on watch below my Chief Engineer would allow me to help crew the passenger launches from ship to shore. Here I am (left) with one of my crew friends who actually was deck crew. On each boat there would be 2 crew and a Coxswain. It would also help train us how to launch the boats from the ship when and IF they would ever be used as lifeboats from the ship.
